Japandi Style

Posted by clare stephens on

Interior styles and trends change over the years, colour palettes vary with the seasons and items that might have been desirable one year can soon fall from favour the next. Despite loving old, rustic things with a nautical or military style I try to learn about what's changing with peoples tastes and if possible keep up, something that can be very hard when your hearts desire is to live in the 18th or 19th century. I have a love of Oriental aesthetics, this is often reflected in the Japanese and Chinese items we find and add to our stock. I...

The End of the Summer?

Posted by clare stephens on

The mornings are getting colder, the nights seem to be drawing in and it feels like summer is coming to an end. Mum and I enjoyed the bank holiday Monday, selling at our favourite car boot at Abbotskerwell cricket club, sadly the last one of the year. A lazy Sunday car booting

New items for the new year

We had a lovely Christmas, a pretty lazy one, with plenty of time infront of the fire and long walks dicovering the countryside around the village with Major Briggs in tow. As usual it was difficult to force ourselves back to work but we have done so with gusto, throwing ourselves back into the continual hunt for antique and vintage pieces. We seem to be starting the new year with an Asian theme, purely by coincidence, I love such pieces but I don't usually seek them out, they have appeared by chance on my weekly hunts for stock. We have...

New Paint Palette

Posted by clare stephens on

I have been using paints from The Little Greene Paint Company and Farrow and Ball for many years, I love their colour ranges and nothing excites me more than bringing home a new colour to experiment with. I regularly mixed my own colours and have begun creating a new colour palette to make our pieces more unique. The new colours are inspired by the beautiful countryside and the wildlife that surrounds our home in Denbury. Over the coming months I will add to the range with new greys, greens, blues and neutrals to compliment the antique pieces that we find on...
