I love this time of year, the end of the summer. The sun sits low in the sky, warming the lazy shortening days as the seasons begin to change. The leaves are turning and apples fall, the hedgerows are heavy with blackberries. Holidays are coming to an end as we carry memories of the long hot days into the darkening months of Autumn.
We spent the last day of our short summer break in Cornwall, with a visit to Pentewan or 'Bentewyn', the name in Cornish, means 'foot of the glittering stream', an apt name for such a beautiful place. A short stroll through the village brought us to a small place with seating outside called Little Bay Cafe where we indulged in a relaxing lunch finished off with homemade cakes.
Then sadly home to the end of our holiday and a return to work in the morning.
No doubt this week, with the return of the schools, will see all things Christmas sneaking in to the shops, the quickening of time and another year nearly spent.
