This is a handsome antique steamer trunk dating to the early 20th century.
Made from pine and metal lined the trunk is solid and heavy and would have once been used as a piece of luggage on long rail and sea journeys. The trunk is covered in brown vellum and has beech banding, to each end is a large carrying handle. The lid has metal catches to keep it closed and the inside of the trunk has a zinc metal lining. There are various luggage labels to the exterior and the top of the lid bears the last owners name painted in black lettering.
Generally good structural condition with many marks of age and wear giving it a well travelled look.
