Pair of Antique Black Bedside Cabinets with Marble Tops
Pair of Antique Black Bedside Cabinets with Marble Tops
An attractive pair of early 20th century bedside cabinets with marble tops.
The cabinets are solid and fairly well made from oak, each has a single door to the front set under a small drawer. The doors are decorated with a central carved motif and the doors open to reveal a single shelf. The tops of the cabinets have removable pieces of brown polished marble which are set in front of a backplate.
The cabinets may have once had a headboard attached between the two, there is a small channel cut out from one side panel on both cabinets and an odd catch to the top of each back plate, as shown.
I have painted each in a water based black paint before lightly distressing the paintwork and then finishing with beeswax.
The paintwork is solid colour and is smooth and fairly matt.
CONDITION
The cabinets are generally in solid structural condition.
One of the pieces of marble has a small knock to the front corner.
The cupboard and drawer interiors have some signs of age and use.
