A useful Victorian English pine cupboard dating to the mid 19th century.
The cupboard is narrow and tall and was probably originally handmade for an alcove.
It could serve a variety of purposes in any home and is ideally suited to use as a housekeeping cupboard or larder.
The front has a panelled door to the top which opens to reveal wooden hanging hooks to the top and three slatted shelves, the slats can be removed if required.
To the base are two deep drawers which are finished with brass drop handles and brass escutcheons, sadly the key has been lost somewhere in time.
The cupboard is set on a shallow base plinth and and the top is finished with graduated cornicing.
The wood has a waxed finish which has a low sheen.
CONDITION
The cupboard is in solid structural condition with many small cosmetic marks of age and use including some old inactive woodworm holes and various scratches here and there. Some areas of the top cornicing had been damaged over time so we have sanded them to smooth any rough edges. The door has a slight bow.
Please take a look at all of the photos to get an idea of its general condition.
