A large two part plan chest dating to 1950. The plan chest is made pitch pine and mixed woods and is very heavy and solid, bearing a GR VI stamp to the inner underside of the top section, indicating that is was made during the reign of King George the 6th and was made by a company that had the Royal Warrant and supplied goods to the Royal household for at least five years. The plan chest is very wide and deep and each section is fitted with five spacious drawers. At some point in its life the chest was painted with cream paint and now has a chippy old finish which is very characterful. The handles have been hand made in our workshop using reclaimed beech wood and stained to match the drawers. The drawer fronts have been stripped to reveal the natural wood. The drawer fronts have been osmo-oiled for a durable low sheen finish.
CONDITION
The plan chest is in solid condition with many marks of age and use which give it a good amount of character.
