This is a useful large blanket box that dates to the first half of the 20th Century. The box is made of solid pine and is quite wide and deep and fairly low. It could be used at the foot of a bed for storing blankets and clothes, or perhaps in a lounge as a coffee table with hidden storage. The box has a large lift up lid which is fitted with two chains and the interior is clean and unpainted. The base is set on castors making it easy to move about. The outside has a unique distressed paint finish, various layers of paint have been applied followed by a top coat of cream chalk paint which has then been coated in a light brown stain to create an aged look before finally being sealed with furniture wax. The lid has been decorated with a hand painted folk art style star.

In solid rustic condition with many marks of age and use and a small knot of wood missing to the base plinth, etc.
