This is a useful ottoman chest which dates to the early 20th century.
This piece began its life as the base of a wardrobe until some inventive person decided to turn it into an ottoman or storage seat.
Made of mahogany the front is fitted with a single wide drawer which is finished with later pine knobs. The drawer is lockable and the key is present.
The top has been upholstered and buttoned in a beautiful floral fabric which has a navy ground.
The wood has been hand painted in water based eggshell paint from Dulux called 'Red Ochre', the colour is a lovely earthy red colour. The finish has been lightly distressed and then waxed for a smooth and tactile finish.
CONDITION
This piece is in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks of age and use.
There are a couple of small white marks on the fabric.
