A charming small Edwardian dressing chest and bedside cabinet dating to the Edwardian era.
These two useful pieces of antique furniture are made of satin birch wood and feature attractive stencilled designs to the front.
The dressing chest is fairly compact and has four drawers which are finished with brass drop handles set on decorative backplates. The top would have once housed a mirror but this has been removed at some point. The base is set on short block legs which are finished with ceramic castors.
The bedside cabinet mirrors the style of the dressing chest and has a single small drawer and a cupboard space for storage.
The two pieces are in solid condition and the wood has a wax polished finish which has a mid sheen.
CONDITION
The two pieces are in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks of age and use, mainly to the tops and under-tier, there are various stains and watermarks, as shown.
The dressing chest would have once housed a mirror, the top has two infills of wood where the supports once sat.
The drawers run fairly well for their age and the interiors are in clean condition.
To the back of both are some old inactive woodworm holes.
