An elegant painted bedroom chest dating to the Edwardian era.
The chest is made of solid mahogany and is very heavy and well made, bearing a label to the rear for 'Sopwith & Co', a firm of esteemed furniture makers based in Newcastle from 1769-1935. The chest is ideal for a bedroom, offering plenty of storage space for clothes.
The front is fitted with four drawers which are lined with dark pink paper and finished with ornate brass drop handles and escutcheons. The base of the chest is raised on tapered block legs finished with ceramic castors. This piece has been hand painted in 'Serenity' by Rustoleum paints, the paint is water based with a smooth and fairly matt finish, the colour is a lovely dusky green colour.
The paintwork has been lightly distressed and then waxed for protection.
CONDITION Generally in solid structural condition with minor cosmetic marks of age and use.
