This is a superbly characterful antique clerks desk dating to the mid 19th century.
Made of elm and pine it is solid and fairly heavy and has a well aged finish which will suit a rustic antique setting.
The desk has a wide top with sloped lid which lifts up to reveal a fitted interior with six small drawers flanking a central cupboard.
The desk is set on tall block legs and the wood is finished with a thick scumble glaze which has worn in places.
CONDITION
The desk is in solid structural condition with various marks here and there, various dents, scratches and knocks to the finish. One of the side panels has an old age related shrinkage crack running side to side and internally the drawer knobs are later replacements.
The drawer runners have worn but the drawer still runs well.
The scumbled finish is very aged and has good patina.
