A handsome small antique Anglo Indian spice cabinet dating to the late 19th century.
The cabinet is fairly compact and can be used floor standing or set on a table top.
It is heavy and well made from solid Indian hardwood and features a galleried top with a decorative pierced scalloped pediment set over two glazed doors which open to reveal a small fixed shelf.
The interior has the most wonderfully exotic smell, like cinnamon or warm spices, an evocative scent that reminds me of sandalwood incense.
The base has a narrow drop down door which is kept closed by a small brass toggle.
The base sits on small block supports and the wood has a natural unwaxed finish.
CONDITION
The cabinet is in solid structural condition with minor marks of age and use.
